Arm Support for a Woman with Cerebral Palsy (to help her drive a manual shift transmission)Greater Lawrence Technical High School, 2006- Teams of 3 - 5 high school students must find an actual disabled, elderly or special needs "client" with a real problem that can be solved in 4 months.
- ATDF projects can be accomplished as part of a course or as an informal extracurricular activity.
- Must submit a formal problem statement by February and meet with visiting engineers by March for an engineering design review.
- Teams design, build, test & prototype a solution to present at design fair in May. Must have access to workshop space and tools, and be able to resolve safety and liability issues for students and clients.
- Each team must create a PowerPoint and poster presentation describe their problem, design process and final solution. Prototypes should be presented to clients if possible.
